Day 1: Arrival in Saigon
Arrive at Tan Son Nhat Airport. Far East Tour’s guide and driver pick you up and transfer to hotel. Free at leisure. Overnight in hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 2: Saigon & Cu Chi (B, L)
7h30 am, depart from your hotel in Ho Chi Minh. Enjoy a morning drive through typical southern Vietnamese countryside to Cu Chi district. On arrival, attend the fantastic mid-day temple service when followers fill the hall wearing colored robes, a symbol of the curious combination of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. On the way back, visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, an underground network of tunnels constructed by Vietnamese fighters during the struggle for independence. The tunnels contained hospitals, accommodation, etc. and were used as a military base for the Vietcong during the American war. Drive back to Ho Chi Minh City. Dinner on guest’s account. Overnight in hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 3: Excursion to Mekong Delta (B, L)
Have breakfast at your hotel, enjoy a full-day excursion to My Tho, 75km south of Saigon, a peaceful town on the bank of the Mekong River. The tour comprises a cruise on the Mekong River, a visit to local homes & orchards, a sampan ride on palm-shaded creeks, a taste of seasonal fruit & honey tea and a performance of traditional southern singing. Lunch of Mekong specialties is arranged. Transfer back to Ho Chi Minh City. Arrives at 05:30 pm. Overnight in hotel in Ho Chi Minh City
Day 4: Saigon – Danang – My Son – Hoi An (B)
Morning transfer to Tan Son Nhat airport for short flight to Danang. Arrival Danang airport, get picked up and start the tour in Central of Vietnam. Enjoy a day trip to explore two World Heritage sites recognized by UNESCO in 1999. First, travel over rural roads to My Son (70km), where architectural treasures and sculptures of Cham culture dating from the 7th to the 13th century can be explored. Then transfer to Hoi An, a centuries-old city with ancient houses, temples, markets and handicraft workshops. Return to the hotel with a stop-over at the Non Nuoc stone-carving village where a wide variety of articles is sculptured from marble and sandstone. Overnight in hotel in Hoi An.
Day 5: Hoi An – Hue (B)
Early in the morning, transfer to Hue, widely known for its magnificent monuments built under the Nguyen Dynasty (1802 – 1945). Pick up and transfer to a hotel. In the afternoon, overland to the tombs of King Khai Dinh (ruled 1916 – 1925) and King Minh Mang (ruled 1820 – 1840) where the contrast between Oriental and Occidental architectures is shown. Take a boat ride on the Perfume River to Thien Mu Pagoda, viewing rural landscape and local activities at sunset. Overnight in hotel in Hue.
Day 6: Hue – Hanoi (B)
Transfer to Phu Bai airport for a short flight to Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital city of tree-lined streets and centuries-old temples. Picked up by Fareast Travel tour guide and transfer to a hotel. An afternoon sightseeing tour features both cultural and historical highlights, comprising the Temple of Literature, restored Sword lake, the old quarter. The sightseeing day ends with a water puppet show, a theatrical genre reflecting the agricultural civilization of thousands of years ago. Overnight in hotel in Hanoi.
Day 7: Excursion to Halong Bay (B, L)
Enjoy a day excursion to Halong, 170km from Hanoi. Depart at 8.00am at your hotel (in Hanoi). Drive directly to Ha Long city. Arrive at Ha long about 11.30am. Getting on boat at a private junk. While the junk cruising caves, grottoes, floating villages and beaches on Ha Long bay, having fresh seafood lunch on boat. Stop for a while visiting to Thien Cung Caves, en route. Finish the cruise about 15.30pm. Drive back to Hanoi with stop-overs at ceramic and hand embroidery workshops en route, tour end at your hotel about at 19.00pm. Overnight in hotel in Hanoi.
Day 8: Departure from Hanoi (B)
Spend last minutes for downtown shopping (ceramics, silver-carvings, silk,...) or at leisure before check-out. Transfer to the airport for departure back to your home. Far East Tour hopes to serve you next time.
